December 1st Visitors Will Return to the BVI

December 1st, 2020, the British Virgin Islands are set to reopen to welcome tourists, visitors, and cruisers. The archipelago has been closed to visitors since early in the COVID-19 pandemic. While their cases were relatively low, they were under quarantine or curfew to help stop the spread of the virus.

While protocols and guidelines have not yet been released, the islands have two months to prepare to start a new type of chartering season. The territory’s opening will be a considerable boost to the local economy that is dependant on tourism dollars.

ASA will update this page as more information becomes available. For now, start daydreaming about the infamous painkillers on Jost Van Dyke and watching the sunset from Copper Island. The Sir Francis Drake Channel is calling and soon you will be able to answer the call.

The American Sailing Association has numerous sailing schools in the British Virgin Islands that offer sailing certifications, crewed charters, and Bareboat charters. The British Virgin Islands are the most popular sailing destination for ASA students looking to charter a sailboat.
