North U Women’s Performance Race Week is a week-long sailing program designed specifically for women. North U offers various programs and resources to help sailors improve their skills and performance. This racing program is different because it is designed specifically for women.
During North U Women’s Performance Race Week, participants receive coaching and instruction from experienced sailors and coaches, and they can practice their skills in various racing situations. The program covers a wide range of topics, including sail trim, boat handling, tactics, strategy, and more.
The program provides a supportive and empowering environment for women to improve their sailing abilities and connect with other female sailors. The requirements include strong sailing skills, some racing experience, and the ability and agility to sail on an active 24-foot boat. The program occurs at St. Petersburg Sailing Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
What is Included:
Experience a five-day intensive training program to refine and enhance your racing skills with North U’s Performance Racing Week. This program offers a blend of onboard coaching, seminars, and video analysis to help you become a better sailor. The event culminates with a championship regatta that tests your skills.
Throughout the program, you’ll have access to more than 27 hours of sailing and participate in over fifty starts. A skilled coach will join you onboard as you sail a J70, one of the most popular one-design race boats in use today. You can enroll as an individual or as part of a team.
Daily Schedule:
Prepare yourself for a full five days of intensive learning as The Clinic offers a daily schedule of six hours of sailing, a midday seminar, and a lunch break. The afternoon session concludes with either a video review or a party (or both) to celebrate your progress.
With 30 hours of sailing and over 50 starts, The Clinic is designed to help you improve your sailing skills. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, the program offers informative shore sessions on various topics such as Rig Tuning, Rules at Starts and Marks, Crew Organization and Communications, Self-Directed Practice Planning, and more to keep you engaged and on track with your progress.
